Jon's practice includes representation of banks, insurance companies and other commercial lenders in a broad variety of financing transactions. Recent transactions run the gamut from a parking garage to a state-of-the-art laboratory for a biotech company. Other recent transactions include unsecured lending, receivables financings, equipment financings and real estate loans. Jon has particular skilled experience in both conventional and tax-exempt financing for senior living facilities, long-term care facilities, educational institutions, non-profit cultural institutions and social service agencies.

• Jon recently closed a complex financing for the expansion of a continuing care retirement community. This transaction required creativity to weave the new financing into the rights created by an existing long-term bond issue, a ground lease and other existing documentation.
  
  
• Working against a year-end deadline, Jon helped to shape and guide to fruition a major construction financing for a venerable New England museum.
  
  
• Jon has many years of experience in the national senior living arena. In that role, he travels to California, Arizona, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, upstate New York and other locations closing financings for independent living facilities, assisted living facilities and continuing care retirement communities.

Jonathan R. Harris is a partner in the Business Law Department with more than 30 years' experience in financings for not-for-profit organizations, including construction loans, working capital loans, term loans and acquisition financing. These financings have employed conventional borrowing facilities, as well as a wide variety of tax-exempt financing vehicles, including variable rate revenue bonds backed by letters of credit, variable rate bonds (insured or uninsured) with merely liquidity support, tax-exempt leases, long-term fixed rate bonds and direct purchase of bank-qualified obligations. Jon has represented borrowers, lenders, underwriters, credit enhancers and bond purchasers. The organizations financed include hospitals, schools, universities, museums and other cultural organizations, social service agencies, health centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, independent senior living communities and continuing care retirement communities. Jon's particular passion involves planning for living alternatives for those of us will turn 65 during the next 10 years.
