Jim teaches a course at the University of Connecticut School of Law on business acquisitions.
Jim serves on the Commission on Connecticut's Leadership in Corporation and Business Law. This Commission, within the Connecticut legislative branch, was created by statute to develop and recommend policies to enhance Connecticut’s corporation statutes; establish a court docket with exclusive jurisdiction over business entity organizations, shareholders, securities and business combinations; and assist the secretary of the state in developing best-in-the-nation business services and support.
He is the former Chairman of the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. Jim currently serves on the Executive Committee of that Section. He also served as the Co-Chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association task force which drafted the Connecticut Business Corporation Act.
Jim is a member of the American Bar Association Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions, and the American Bar Association Corporate Laws Committee.
Jim served on the Charter Revision Commission of the Town of Canton, Connecticut.
